Heavenly Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Oh my goodness. This Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream recipe is Heavenly. It’s creamy and fresh and tastes so much better than the ice cream you can get in the stores. I find that I typically have most ingredients on hand, so why not make it rather than go to the store and buy it. In addition the process is simple and fun. If you’ve made ice cream before, you know it’s pretty easy. Anyone can do it. See this recipe in action here: Heavenly Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. Let’s get started.
Ingredients:
2 cups cold heavy cream
2 cups cold whole milk
1 cup sugar
¼ tsp salt
2 tablespoons pure vanilla extract
Ice cream maker. (Mine is the 40 dollar one that requires ice and coarse salt)
Ice cream salt or coarse kosher salt
Lots of ice
Steps:
Combine heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, salt and pure vanilla extract in a medium size bowl. Stir until combined. If your mixture isn’t very cold, I would recommend chilling it for about 30 minutes. The colder it is, the better this process goes.
Get our your ice cream maker, ice, and coarse salt. Pour your mixture into your ice cream maker according to the directions.
Alternate ice and salt in the ice cream maker outer portion while churning. Keep checking on the ice level and add more ice/salt throughout the churning process until the ice cream is the texture of a soft serve. Mine usually takes 20-30 minutes. At this point you can add any mix-ins you may want such as raspberries, toffee bits, or cookie dough. Let it churn a bit longer until the mix-ins are combined.
Freeze Immediately in a container with a lid. I like these ones from amazon. Freeze overnight and enjoy!
